Brittnei Schaeffler

Hello!! I am so happy that you want to learn a little more about who I am and my journey.

Although there is a lot to tell and share, I hope you will enjoy reading a very summarized version of myself below.

Ever since I was young, I have had a passion for the outdoors, animals, people, and a deep curiosity for why things are the way they are. I have never been entertained by what is surface level, but always strive to dig deep into the heart, beauty, and intrinsic purpose of not only my own why, but that of others as well.

While completing my Masters thesis on Methods to Enhance the Public’s Understanding of Conservation Science, I used the Theory of Change Behavior Metrics to identify new ways of strategically creating change for conservation education. However, I believe these simple metrics can assist any individual’s or nonprofit’s goals in effective outreach. It is my plan to use them with each new and exciting WSYC storytelling project that I take on.

I am a super energetic and driven person who is in a constant state of learning. My faith, family, friends, and belief in seizing every opportunity have allowed me unique opportunities to travel the world, interact with cultures of different kinds, advocate for amazing animals, and identify new ways to help this world become a happier and more educated place.

I truly believe that we are all equipped to do wonderful God-given works from the inside out. And that if we can learn to identify what our strengths are – we can begin to live in a more consistent place of fulfillment, opportunity, and impact.

However, I have a special place in my heart for animal nonprofits. Having worked with many over the years, I have seen firsthand the passion, work ethic, and organization they require. Additionally, from a young age I grew up watching my dad successfully manage his own painting business – which has further engrained within me an appreciation for hard work and selflessness.

Ultimately, I have found that my greatest joy comes from helping to support individuals who are using their own strengths and resources to make a positive impact on this world. I love connecting with and helping others to believe in themselves and the power they were born with.

I thrive in creativity, am motivated by faith, and can’t wait to wake up each morning knowing it is another day to make a difference. So, although I may not have all the answers – I do know that with focus, understanding, and applied effort – anything is possible. Below are just a few bullet points about myself:

  • MS Conservation Biology, Edinburgh Napier University
    • Graduate educational emphasis in the Human-Wildlife conflict & Theory of Behavior Change Metrics
  • BS Environmental Science and Policy, Chapman University
    • Minor in English
  • Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutritionist, National Academy of Sports Medicine
  • Certified in Online Design and Teaching for Impact, Vanguard University
  • Selected as one of Chapman University’s 150 influential faces of Chapman, 2022
  • Board member of Friends of Long Beach Animals, 2021

Your story matters. Thank you for your time spent reading and all you do.
